The GRIGRI is a self-locking belay device which also functions well as an ascender or descender when needed. Once properly installed, the device locks onto the rope when weighted with a rotating stainless steel cam. Unlocking is accomplished by unweighting the GRIGRI, or by pulling the self-retracting handle, which unlocks the cam. Additionally, a simple self-locking Z-rig can be made with the GRIGRI functioning as the first pulley in the system.
For 10-11 mm ropes.
