Courses to challenge students functioning as team members in mock rescue scenarios with hands-on, real-time exercises. Covering both individual and team based skills in rescue equipment, hazard mitigation, rappelling, ascending fixed lines, rescue pickoffs, terrain assessment, litter handling, patient movement, lowering systems, belay techniques, mechanical advantage systems and tensioned guiding lines. Skills test to obtain NFPA 1006 certificate or more advanced. Updates on the latest equipment, systems testing, equipment demonstration tests, manufactured and improvised artificial high anchor points, high lines, guiding lines and advanced litter handling techniques.

Oregon Avalanche Institute
Three Sisters Backcountry operates the facilities for the Oregon Avalanche Institute. Located near Sisters, Oregon, our institute is Oregon’s original American Institute for Avalanche Research and Education (AIARE) course provider. Our courses follow the American Avalanche Association (AAA) guidelines and meet the standards of the American Mountain Guides Association. OAI is Oregon’s local, professional avalanche training institute.

Three Sisters Backcountry provides avalanche safety courses, resources for skiers, snowmobilers and guides as well as an array of services to complement their superb custom backcountry ski trips into the Central Oregon Cascades featuring wood-heated yurts nestled in a grove of old-growth Hemlocks at the base of Tam McArthur Rim. Services for Vertical Rescue Workshop
The Vertical Rescue Workshop is an intensive six day seminar and is designed for technical rescue practitioners who meet NFPA 1670 Technical Rope Rescue Technician. Although there are no prerequisites, it is advisable that the participant of this course be versed in basic rescue knot craft, and have a basic understanding of anchor building and mechanical advantages.

Services for Team Skills Workshop
The Team Skills Rescue Workshop is ideal for industrial and wilderness rescue teams and is designed to review some practices from the PSRS, yet carry on into more demanding rescue practices and team-building skills. This, and the PSRS, are the seminars which fulfill the "90% solution" on most rope rescues within industry and wilderness locations. Lectures on intermediate physics and how it relates to rope rigging are common throughout the duration of this seminar. Emphasis is places on "why" we do something, rather than "how".

Services for Advanced Skills Workshop
The Advanced Skills Rescue Workshop is held only one time during any given year and is a seven day seminar dealing with the remaining "10% Solution". This rigorous course "for wizards" applies some aspects of the TSRS yet goes well beyond these both in intensity of rigging, and application of physical principles. The course begins abruptly with an impromptu field exercise to assess existing skill level within the "team".
