Services for Vertical Rescue Workshop

See Course Schedules Here

The Vertical Rescue Workshop is an intensive six day seminar and is designed for technical rescue practitioners who meet NFPA 1670 Technical Rope Rescue Technician. Although there are no prerequisites, it is advisable that the participant of this course be versed in basic rescue knot craft, and have a basic understanding of anchor building and mechanical advantages. Participants in the VRS will learn how to build clean and efficient rope systems that meet the challenge of difficult high angle rescues typically seen in the urban/industrial environment. Lectures during this series deal with the basic physics of rope rigging, with the emphasis on the theory (the "why") that ultimately supports the performance (the "how") of a polished technical rescue team. The 2006 VRS will be taught once in both California and in Washington. The seminar is a good mix of wilderness and industrial recue techniques. Students can see for themselves the commonality of techniques between the two as they work with high angle systems in urban/industrial settings. This program has become very popular in the past few years with fire fighters in particular.
