The Rock Exotica Omni-Block 2.0 inch pulleys are the medium sheave version of the ingenious Rock Exotica swing plate pulley system. The swing plate securely gives the operator access to the pulley without having to remove your connector. This ease of access helps to speed up setup and system transition times. Here at RRG we have used the Omni-Blocks in our High Directionals as well as many other systems for this exact reason.
The body of these pulleys are machined out of a solid block of aluminum for an impressive strength to weight ratio. The Omni-Blocks use high efficiency ball bearings and a patented design that gives your rigging system a one of a kind accessibility to a swing plate pulley and a swivel all in one. The swing plate has a push pin release button with a secondary safety catch to protect the user in case of an accidental release. This secondary catch requires a second push of the button, before the user can fully open and extend the sideplate, to access the pulley.
We use this in almost every rigging system we set up and give it a RRG recommendation.
These patented devices revolutionized pulley use when they were introduced in 2005. The Omni Block combines a pulley with a swivel and offers tremendous advantages. It can replace a conventional pulley, carabiner & swivel and is lighter, less expensive and saves valuable vertical space. It also allows installing/removing the rope while the pulley is still anchored.
The unique prusik minding, side rotating, swivel pulley is truly another Rock Exotica first. Continuing with the notion that standard rescue pulleys with their side swing plate and limited access increase the time it takes to implement, the 2.0 allows the pulley to be clipped into the system before inserting the rope. The double locking side plate of the 2.0 adds an additional layer of safety.
Incredibly quick to attach, the Rock Exotica Omni Block 2.0 is a high strength (36 kN), swiveling rope block/pulley. Like RE’s popular swivel connector, these pulleys eliminate twisting from rope rigging systems with smooth, ball bearing action. Each precision fabricated alloy block has a unique button activated release feature that allows instant access to the sheave for midline attachment. The milled alloy attachment eye is large enough to accept most carabiners and snaps. Pulley sheave is 2 inches and accepts up to 13mm rope.
